We read to Eva at night from a chapter book and refer to it as “Snuggles.” After prayers she gets to choose who will participate in Snuggles for the night. It goes like this:
Me: “Ok, who’s the snuggler?”
If it’s me, she’ll say, “Someone who starts with an Mmm sound,” and if it’s Michael she’ll say, “Someone who starts with a Duh sound.”
We then have to incorrectly guess things that begin with the letter M or D until Eva gives us a hint, and we can correctly discern if Mama or Daddy is the snuggler.
Last night she said, “Someone who starts with an Mmm sound,” and Michael rattled off a few incorrect guesses.
Eva then said, “Nope, I’ll give you a hint. It’s someone with sausage fingers.”
I admit that my digits resemble breakfast links, but sausage fingers?! That’s the best she can do? I have other traits that distinguish me from Michael. Why didn’t she say, “It’s someone who is very beautiful,” or “Someone who smells like a meadow of flowers,” or “Someone who shines light on everyone she meets” or “Someone who can eat her weight in chocolate?”
Nope.
It’s someone with sausage fingers.
When it’s my turn to snuggle again Eva might as well say, “Someone who starts with a juh sound.”
Juh for Jimmy Dean.
Love it, nothing better than a sausage McMuffin with egg
