The 4th!

As if turning 6 dressed as Wonder Woman wasn’t exciting enough, Eva lost her 4th tooth on her birthday!

About a month ago when the tooth first became loose, Eva wrote the Tooth Fairy a note with her desires.

The note kicked around and became mangled while Eva patiently waited for the tooth to fall out.  Here’s the thing: a Fuzzy Wubble is a pricey little toy.  I told Eva that the Tooth Fairy wasn’t going to bring her something so extravagant.  “The Tooth Fairy only brings candy,” I told her.

“Oh, no she doesn’t, Mama.  The Tooth Fairy brings toys too.  She brought me Wink.  She’ll bring me a Fuzzy Wubble.  You’ll see.”

This is all Michael’s fault.  Last time Eva lost a tooth, the Tooth Fairy ignored his wife’s requests and purchased a toy and candy that far exceeded his budget. 

Eva did not forget.

I tried to convince her that the Tooth Fairy doesn't have enough money to buy expensive toys for all the kids who lose teeth.  She told me that the Tooth Fairy doesn't have to buy toys; she just gets them. 

Oh, of course she does.

Therein was the dilemma; break a little girl’s heart or go against all your cheapness and get the Fuzzy Wubble.  Michael had no qualms about buying the Fuzzy Wubble.  Michael doesn't suffer from frugality.  Well…the Tooth Fairy won.

I was actually glad the next morning that the Tooth Fairy brought the Fuzzy Wubble.  We put it on the end of Eva’s bed since it wouldn’t fit under her pillow.  She didn’t see it in the morning and came solemnly into my bedroom with a sad look on her face.  She meekly said, “Mama, the Tooth Fairy didn’t come.”

The look on her sweet face nearly broke my heart.  I would have been really heartbroken if I hadn’t given in to the Fuzzy Wubble idea and she was devastated.

Ok, Michael.  This one time I can see where my cheapness would have been detrimental.  But only this one time.  And the time I bought a cheap computer and it was terrible.  And when I bought the cheap trellis for the yard and it was short and crappy.

But only those 3 times.
