Tooth Fairy

Is it possible that she’s old enough for this:

20171219_202809

Mother Nature seems to think so but I respectfully disagree.  She can’t possibly be old enough to lose her first tooth!  Eva yanked that baby right out and was so excited she couldn’t even stand it.

And then the Tooth Fairy came so I guess I am in denial.

But I like denial.  It’s easier on my poor ‘ol heart.

Randomness

Eva says, “Hey Mama, wanna see Kitty’s cute smile?”

“Of course I do.”

20171213_161845

The next day we went to the doctor where Eva received 3 shots and she didn’t cry at all.  She was very happy about her accomplishment.  First she meowed:

Then she smiled Kitty’s cute smile:

20171215_102011

Kitty is 45.5 inches tall – 91st percentile, and 44.4 pounds – 74th percentile.  She also has 20/20 vision in her left eye and 20/25 in her right.  Michael was very concerned at this.  He was sure she’d be blind by next year.

My Eva kitty loves to color and draw.  These particular art pieces are my recent favorite:

It’s an alien family and their car.

randomness

It’s a kitty.

It was candy cane day at school last week.  Eva was so excited about it.  What a cute candy cane she is:

And one more piece of randomness – maybe I should turn up the heat in my house.

Puzzle Mania

Eva received a puzzle from one of her friends for her birthday.  She’s hooked!  It has 48 pieces and she can complete it all by herself in mere minutes.  It’s almost become an obsession.  Michael had the gall to pick up the puzzle and put it away so he could set the table for dinner the other night.  She cried for 15 minutes.

We’ve now been to the dollar store to add 2 more puzzles to her collection.  She puts them together late at night when she should be sleeping.

The only thing I’m that obsessed with is food.  I guess a puzzle is a better obsession – though not as tasty.  Which reminds me…I need to go eat some food.

Advent

We bought an advent calendar on clearance last year and waited anxiously until December 1st to hang it up.  I filled the pockets with various pieces of  candy, bought a creepy elf to mark the days, and the whole shebang has been an enormous hit with Eva.

She rushes down first thing every morning to see what surprise awaits.  Then she eats the surprise in my bed.  It’s all very wonderful.

20171207_075820

I’m impressed by her affinity for the advent calendar.  I’m even more impressed that she doesn't peek into the pockets to see what’s coming next.   She patiently waits for the surprise and hypothesizes every night before bed what it could possibly be.  I don’t know where she developed such self control.

We all know it ain’t heredity.

Worrisome

We’ve got Princess, Princess Fifi, Snowball, and Duchess.

Should I be concerned that she’s turning into a crazy cat lady at only 5-years-old?

Wowza! 38!

I went ahead and turned 38 recently.  I usually am not bothered by getting older since my husband is much more ancient than I am and hits the bigger numbers long before I do - I’m just  a wee-lad in comparison.  But I must say that 38 gave me pause this year.  For a brief moment I felt old.  Then I remembered Michael  receives offers from AARP while I don’t, and I felt better about myself.

We decided to celebrate me NOT being old by staying overnight at an indoor water park.  Well, we didn’t stay overnight IN the water park, that would be weird and cold.  It was a hotel/water park called Great Wolf Lodge and we had a magnificent time.  It took a couple of hours to get there so naturally we had to stop to eat halfway there.  It was 10 AM so Wendy’s seemed like the logical choice.  Hey, it was my birthday.  Let me enjoy a frosty and a hamburger for brunch!

20171117_101752

Michael and Eva love swimming while I am a lukewarm participant, but the park really was a lot of fun.  I was feeling young and vivacious zipping down the water slides and bobbing around in the wave pool – for approximately 1 hour.

Poor Eva and her geriatric parents.  I started to feel dizzy from the slides and Michael wrenched his back dismounting from the tube at the bottom of one slide.  We stayed for a total of 3 hours, which I felt was a grand accomplishment since I was shivering for the entire block of time.  We had a nice dinner, then ate snacks in the hotel room and watched TV while Eva jumped between the beds for a couple of hours.  Successful day.

The next day was my actual birthday, and of course, we had donuts for breakfast.  No one cares about their figure at 38 anyway.  Which is also why I powered through almost my entire birthday cake – only 2 pieces found the trash can days later.

Happy Birthday to me!

Autumn

It’s Fall so you know what that means: Pumpkin patch time!  We ventured out to our favorite patch to pick out the perfect pumpkins.  The weather was beautiful and we ran into our friends so it was a great day.

Close to the entrance was a food truck selling apple cider donuts, and just beyond that was a slide.  Eva raced to the slide while Michael couldn’t resist the smell of donuts and raced over to the food truck.  It was like being in Tijuana when my dad would sprint to the first taco stand once we were over the border, his explanation for stopping at the first one being, “I always stop at the first taco stand I see because…well…it smells good.”  Those smells will get you every time.

Fall also means playing in the leaves.  And we have plenty of leaves in our yard to accommodate.

Spooky Dinner

What’s Halloween without brains for dinner?

_storage_emulated_0_Android_data_com.sec.imsservice_files_received_files_20171026_173310_1509935944112

And what’s Halloween without pumpkins?

_storage_emulated_0_Android_data_com.sec.imsservice_files_received_files_20171026_173313_1509935943352

And what’s Halloween without skeletons?

Why, it’s just another ordinary Tuesday, that’s what.

Halloweener

Show me a guy who doesn’t like Halloween and I’ll show you a real jerk.  I am not one of those jerks.  I love Halloween.  I love it so much I’m actually sad it’s over.  The only thing keeping me from spiraling into the depths of depression is the bucket of candy that Eva scored.  And she scored!  3 full-size candy bars and lots of Kit Kats and Twix.  I count that as a win.  It helped that she Trick-or-Treated 3 times; at school, at the church Trunk-or-Treat, and around our neighborhood.  We really went for it this year.

Here’s my adorable fairy angel.

20171031_181632

Don’t make the mistake of calling her an angel fairy.  You will be met with a brisk scolding from the little fairy angel.  I made the angel fairy mistake multiple times.  I don’t learn good.

The weather was beautiful, our friends were with us, and it was a successful evening.

20171031_18232220171031_18493420171031_19570220171031_181639

Now quit bothering me – I must get back to eating all the fairy angel’s candy.

Happy Halloween!

Birthday Girl

Well…it happened.  Kitty turned 5!  We had a great day celebrating with her friends by jumping on inflatable bounce houses at Super Bounce, then we had dinner at a restaurant of Eva’s choosing – Wendy’s of course – then we munched on a lopsided birthday cake, courtesy of moi.  It didn’t look pretty but it tasted fantastic; layers of chocolate, chocolate chip cake with chocolate ganache and raspberry sauce.  YUM!  And we mustn't forget the kitty cupcakes that Eva and I made for her friends.  How divine.

Turning 5 means you really rake in the presents:  A light show projector from Aunt Cam, Play-Doh and a coloring book from Grandma Lisa, and cash-ola from my parents, which she used to purchase a Hei-Hei doll that screeches.  It’s not annoying at all.

Michael and I got her a new stuffed kitty since I will never allow a real one, magnetic blocks, a butterfly net, and Shimmer and Shine teenie genie pets.  Eva was in heaven.

20171026_14302920171026_14504020171026_15061620171027_11092520171027_12515020171027_132654_00120171027_13265620171027_14101320171027_141027IMG_6034IMG_602120171027_14173220171027_18014720171027_18552820171027_18553020171027_18582020171027_18592920171027_18595320171027_19012820171027_19061920171027_200133

She again insisted all day that she wasn’t 5 until she blew out her candles.  It was a long wait until nearly 7 in the evening.  But what a fun and exhausting day!

Happy Birthday, Eva!
