School Days

When I was a kid, we went to school.  I walked to school every day and I walked home from school every day.  Even in the snow.  Even in the snow and the wind.  I stopped walking to school when I made it to high school.  Only losers walk to school in high school.  You know me well enough by now to know that I am most definitely NOT a loser.

Do you know who is a loser? Covid-19.  I hate that guy.

Thanks to that loser, there’s no such thing as school anymore.  School these days is Kitty sitting at my kitchen counter with a laptop whining about how bored she is.  And me barking at her to stop whining and do her assignments.  I feel conflicted because the work she is assigned is far below her abilities, they aren’t grading it, and I really don’t care if she completes it or not.  In fact, I feel like it’s an enormous waste of time.

But I can’t let her know that.

So I bark at her to keep up appearances.

I found pictures the other day of Kitty on the 100th day of actual school before the world imploded.

I also found a picture of crazy hair day.  We made her hair into a nest for her stuffed bird, Paradise. It was awesome.

Looking at these pictures and thinking about the abrupt end to her 1st grade year made my heart sigh.

The world seems so sad, so annoyingly uncertain, so boring.  But it doesn't matter - I won't let Covid-19 break us.

But I will gain 23 pounds because of him.

I really hate that guy!
