We had ourselves a mermaid party this year. Kitty has been planning it for months. She loves herself a good party. (Especially when she doesn't have to pay for it.)
We held the party the weekend before her actual birthday. It was extravagant, it was loud, it was full of laughter and fun. Kitty should turn 8 everyday! The best part was that my parents were in town so I was able to rope my mommy into helping me build a giant balloon mermaid tail and decorate mermaid cupcakes. Hooray for my mom!
We had a treasure hunt, we danced, we made jewelry, we opened loads of gifts, we had mermaid ice cream, and some of us wished we had ear plugs. Truly a sign of birthday party success.
On the day of her actual birthday, we had sandwiches at the park while Kitty played on the toys. Kitty received 4 free samples from See's Candies and she was able to spend her birthday cash in one shot at Hobby Lobby. My parents gave her 50 bucks and she put it to good use. She's a very discerning shopper and spent her money on a human body with removable squishy organs inside, a stuffed puppy, a Glow-in-the-dark science lab, a thirsty bird, and cotton candy. We gave her books, a Squishmallow, and putty that changes color when you shine light on it. Then we noshed on DQ ice cream cake and enjoyed celebrating Kitty. It was Happy Birthday indeed!
And the fun didn't stop there! I still had one more party to throw for Kitty's 8th birthday. Stay tuned for the continuation of the Kitty-turns-8-saga!
